Monsoon arrives in UP, likely to cover North West India in next 24 hrs

The much awaited monsoon has reached parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This gave big relief not only to common people from scorching heat of 40-45 degrees Celsius but also to farmers who were waiting to sow their Kharif crops specially paddy.

Director Met Department Mr. J. P. Gupta told our Lucknow correspondent that monsoon showers are being reported from parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh along with state capital Lucknow while very cloudy conditions are being observed in other parts of the state.He hoped that the entire state of Uttar Pradesh will be covered by monsoon rains in next 24 hours.

Minister of State for Earth Sciences Ashwani Kumar has yesterday said that northwest India is expected to get rain in the next two days. He said, the conditions are now favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon and it will reach the national capital in the next four-five days. The monsoon has advanced further into parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
