Monsoon has become active in the entire northern belt as incessant rains lashed Punjab-Haryana region, inundating low-lying areas and disrupting normal life. An alert was sounded in Haryana as the entire Ambala town and over a dozen villages in the region were flooded with up to five feet water. This was due to a breach in the embankment of Tangri river which threw rail and road traffic out of gear. Army was summoned to plug the breach. <br/><br/>National capital Delhi enjoyed a pleasant climate with the arrival of monsoon showers bringing down day temperature. Weatherman predicts the sky to remain generally cloudy today with heavy rains expected in some areas. The mercury is likely to hover around 26 and 35 degrees. Monsoon is vigorous over Himachal Pradesh, where Nalagarh in Soalan district and Pachhad Sirmour district were wettest, recording a rainfall of 72 mm each. The downpour resulted in blockage of roads in interior Sirmaur, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu and Kinnaur districts.The air link between New Delhi and Himachal Pradesh remained disrupted due to rain. <br/><br/>Moderate to heavy rains lashed most parts of Uttarakhand bringing cheers on faces of paddy farmers. In Uttar Pradesh, where the monsoon is yet to cover the entire state, western districts witnessed heavy rains with Moradabad recording 136 mm, Bijnore 95 mm and Bareilly 82 mm rainfall.
