<br/>According to the latest reports of the Met department, the rains have been 24 percent below normal for the period July 8 to July 14. Most parts of northern India have received deficient rains. These include Himachal Pradesh, Delhi , Uttrakand, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and western Rajasthan. Other areas which received scanty rainfall are Kerela, Madhya Maharastra, Arunanchal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Orissa.Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, parts of West Bengal and coastal Andhra Pradesh rainfall was more than the average.<br/><br/>Lack of rains has brought back the hot and humid conditions in most parts of northern India. Parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and some areas in the national capital witnessed slight rainfall yesterday. The weatherman predicts fairly widespread rain to occur over west coast, Uttrakhand, Bihar, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.<br/><br/>Isolated heavy rains are expected over Assam, Meghalaya, and Sikkim in the next 48 hours.
