The Union Minister for Law and Justice, Dr. M Veerappa Moily, Monday met the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioners for the finalization of the program of the National Consultation on Electoral Reforms. The programme will be held on 2nd and 3rd of next month in New Delhi while the seventh and last Regional Consultation will be held in Guwahati on 12th of this month. An official release says, the National Consultation is to focus on Decriminalization of politics, Decommunalization of Elections, Financing of Elections and Auditing of Finances of Political Parties and allied matters, among others. The Vision Statement on Electoral reforms based on the seven Regional Consultations, will be presented to the Prime Minister on the occasion. The National Consultation is expected to be addressed by dignitaries including the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Lok Sabha, the Union Law minister and the UPA Chairperson, besides others.
