Moily announces National Litigation Policy to reduce delays in cases

Law Miniater Veerappa Moily has said that the launch of the National Litigation Policy is aimed at preventing the Bhopal Gas Leak like cases in future. He said, it will also help reducing the number of pending cases in the courts across the country. Launching the new Policy in New Delhi, Mr. Moily asserted that the purpose of the new law is also reduce the government litigation cases in the courts so that they can devote more time in resolving other pending cases. He said the step will achieve the goal in the national legal mission to reduce average pendency time from 15 years to three years. Describing the new policy as a part of the judicial and legal reforms undertaken by the government since long, the Law Minister said that such a step is being taken for the first time in the history of independent India. <br/>
