Moharram observed in different parts of the country with solemnity

Yaume Ashura (???? ?????), tenth day of Muharramm? was observed with due reverence and solemnity in various parts of the country today. The day marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad and his companions, who laid down their lives in Karbala for upholding truth, righteousness and justice?.? <br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, the day was observed in a gloomy atmosphere as Tazias taken in huge processions were buried at Karbalas of various places. AIR correspondent in his report says that? in Uttar Pradesh, the tenth day of Muharram was observed in a gloomy atmosphere as Tazias taken in huge processions were buried at Karbalas of various places. Administration made stringent security arrangements across the state in view of recent clashes between groups in various towns including Kannauj, Fatehpur and Banda. Whereas twelve persons were injured in Bijnor when the balcony collapsed from which they were watching Tazia procession this evening. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent in his report says <br/> several Tazia processions were taken out amidst heavy police security in Lucknow in which mourners were reciting Naohas in the fond remembrance of Hazrat Imam Husain and his truthful companions. Later Tazias were buried in Karbala of Talkatora and Nishatganj of capital city Lucknow. Whereas peaceful mourning processions culminated at Karbala of Jaunpur, Faizabad, Agra, Akbarpur and Tanda of Ambedkarnagar and various other places of the state. <br/><br/>Hindu mourners also accompanied these processions at several places including Lucknow, Varanasi and Kanpur presenting a vibrant example of communal harmony. <br/>In Telangana, Moharram was observed with devotion across the state. AIR correspondent reports that coinciding with the occasion, the historic Bibi-ka-Alam procession was taken out from Bibi-ka-Alawa in Dabeerpura to Chaderghat. AIR correspondent reports that scores of grieving members of the Shia community marched along the procession beating their chests to the chants of 'Ya Hussain'. <br/><br/>A few groups beat themselves while some others made cuts with sharp objects in remembrance of the martyrdom of Iman Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammed, in the battle of Karbala in Iraq centuries ago. The Bibi-ka-Alam, which is believed to contain a holy relic, was taken out as it happens every year on the same day on the back of a caparisoned elephant, Rani. Men, women and children lined along the procession route and surged ahead to offer 'dhattis' to the Alam as it passed by. The procession started in the afternoon at Dabeerpura amidst tight security arrangements and passed through the lanes of the old city including Purana Haveli, Itebar Chowk and the historic Charminar before it culminated at Chaderghat. <br/><br/>In Jammu & Kashmir, the Ashura processions were taken out peacefully in all the Shia populated areas in Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora, Anantnag and Pulwama districts in the Valley. <br/>In the national capital Delhi, the day was observed with reverence. Tazia processions were taken out in different parts of the city to mark the occasion.
