MohaliTest :India snatches victory from Australia by one wicket

India staged a dramatic comeback to win the first test match against Australia in Mohali by one wicket. With 11 runs to win and just a wicket in hand, V V S Laxman was joined by Pragyan Ojha and together they helped the hosts to a memorable victory. Laxman led from the front with an attacking 73 not out from 79 balls hitting eight fours.Tottering at the overnight score of 55 for four and still needing 161 runs for a win, India continued to loose wickets at regular intervals. Sachin Tendulkar made 38, Suresh Raina and Captain Dhoni were out cheaply. It was Laxman and Ishant Sharma who brought India closer to victory. They shared an 81 run stand for the ninth wicket from 131 balls. India sealed victory with two leg byes got by Pragyan Ojha off Johnson to the wild celebrations at the dressing room and the stands. Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni heaped praise on Laxman for single-handedly guiding the country to a memorable over Australia.The second and final test starts in Bangalore on Saturday.India lead the two test series 1-0.
