Modified DBTL scheme launches in 54 districts across eleven States today

The Modified Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG, DBTL, scheme has started in 54 districts today. In the modified DBTL scheme, LPG consumers in 54 districts of 11 states can get cash subsidy to buy the cooking fuel at market price. Talking to AIR, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that under the scheme, requirement of unique identification number, the Aadhar number to avail cash subsidy is not mandatory.

The scheme covers 2 crore 33 lakh households in first phase covering 54 districts of 11 states. During the second phase starting January next year, rest of the states will be covered. Kerala is the first state to see the roll out of DBTL scheme in all its 14 districts where the Aadhaar penetration is 92 per cent. Goa will follow Kerala in the implementation of the scheme.
