Modi yet to respond to SIT’s summon in post Godhra riot case

In Gujarat, the Chief Minister Narendra Modi is expected to present himself before Special Investigation Team (SIT) during this week in connection with summons against him. However, the SIT is yet to hear from Modi on when exactly he will do it. <br/> <br/>According to sources, he is consulting legal opinion on whether he needs to make a personal appearance before SIT or not. The SIT had issued summons to him on March 11, to present himself for questioning in the week beginning 21st March. <br/> <br/>The SIT is conducting an inquiry on directives from the Supreme Court into the complaint filed by Zakia Jafry, widow of former MP Ahsan Jafry, who was killed along with 68 others by a mob at Gulbarg Society on Fabruary 22, 2002. <br/> <br/>His wife has alleged that Modi, his cabinet colleagues, police officials and senior bureaucrats aided and abetted the riots that left over 1,000 people dead. <br/> <br/>Zakia Jafary had lodged a complaint on 8th June, 2006 before the then director general of police P.C. Pande, which was not registered and then moved the Gujarat High Court. <br/> <br/>
