Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tiwari has charged Gujarat Chief Minister Nerendra Modi with trying to raise imaginary, hypothetical and baseless issues during elections.
He said this was done to divert the attention of common men from misdeeds and failure of the Modi government.
Talking to media persons this afternoon at Vadodara Tiwari said that raising the issue of Sir Creek was big example of it. He said nothing can be more immature and childish to think that the UPA government will compromise with any one on the unity and sovereignty of the country.
Questing the timing of making Sir Creek an issue the Minister said that why the Gujarat Chief Minister was silent when the then NDA government had included this issue in the composite dialogue with Pakistan.
Taking a dig at the BJP, he said that the party have no moral right to teach Congress a lesson on patriotism as they had released terrorists and taken them to Kandahar for their safe passage.
Dismissing the plank of development in Gujarat during the Modi regime, the Minister said that the State is burdened with a loan of 1 lakh 40 thousand crore rupees and every citizen of the state is also carrying burden of loan of above Rs 22 thousand.
He said with these facts how a government can claim for development. He also said that the Gujarat is placed at 8th position on the human development index and 5th in view of per capita income.
He said about 80 lakhs people are homeless in the state and above 41 percent women are suffering from malnutrition. The Minister also said that if Gujarat Chief Minister was interested to fight against corruption then why Lokayukta has not been appointed in this state.
Tiwari alleged that it was true common men have not tasted the fruits of the progress but few crony capitalists have been benefitted during the Modi regime.
Refuting the claims of Modi government for providing 50 lakhs houses to the common men in future the Minister said that why did the BJP government not take initiatives in this direction during last 10 years.
He accused the BJP government for following the Congress scheme of Gharanu Ghar for providing homes to homeless in the state.
