The Centre will launch a campaign for education-Tehrike Talim on 15th of October, the birth anniversary of former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam to ensure better education among the poor sections of the society. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters on the achievements of his Ministry during three years, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, initially, the education campaign will be started in those 100 identified districts of the country where the awareness about the education is least. He said, the government will provide resources and facilities for the purpose.<br/><br/>Mr Naqvi said, during the three years of NDA government, the government has created an atmosphere trust among the minority communities while focussing on development and inclusive growth. <br/><br/>He said, his Ministry is implementing various schemes including Garib Nawaz Skill Development Centre, Ustaad,Nai Manzil,Seekho aur Kamao and multi-purpose Sadbhav Mnadap for the welfare of minorities.<br/> <br/>Mr Naqvi said, keeping in view of the socio- economic educational empowerment, the budget of the Minority Affairs Ministry has been increased by about ten per cent to 4,195 crore rupees in 2017-18. <br/><br/>He said, 70 per cent of the total budget will be spent on programmes aimed at educational empowerment and skill development of minorities. <br/><br/>Mr Naqvi said, during the last three years, the Ministry has built around 48 thousand pucca houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and provided over 17 thousand hand-pumps and water tanks. <br/><br/>He said, during three years, scholarships worth 4,750 crore rupees were given to 1.82 crore students and 116 crore rupees were given to over 32 thousand students under free coaching scheme. <br/><br/>He also said, under Seekho aur Kamao scheme, over two lakh youth have been provided employment oriented skill training while 1.98 women have been provided leadership development training ?under Nai Roshni. <br/><br/>The Minister also informed that his Ministry will organise Ustad Samman Samagam to honour artisans in various parts of the country.
