Modi asks EC to ensure free, fair polling in remaining phases of LS elections

Narendra Modi today accused the Election Commission of not acting impartially in the wake of complaints of booth rigging in West Bengal, Bihar and western Uttar Pradesh and dared it to take action against him. Addressing an election rally in Asansol West Bengal, Modi told the EC that if it feels wrong about what he was saying now, then the Commission is free to lodge another case against him.

Hours after BJP sought to downplay its leader Narendra Modi's remarks. Replying to a media query, party spokesman M J Akbar said in New Delhi that Modi was not challenging the authority of the Commission but he was making a suggestion as any other political leader would do.
