BJP leader Narendra Modi has asked the Election Commission to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling in remaining phases of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal with the deployment of Central Para Military forces at each and every polling booth.
Addressing an election rally this afternoon at Allahabad Modi accused the EC for not taking seriously the demands made by the BJP for making effective security arrangements with the deployment of central Para Military forces in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to insure free and fair voting.
He alleged that incidents of rigging and booth capturing have been reported from different constituencies where voting was held during previous phases in these states. He said providing security to each and every citizen during the elections is primary responsibility of the EC and it should be realised by the Commission.
He said he has big complaint to the Commission and it will be great success of the Commission if it conducts free and fair voting on May 7 and 12. He said Central IB has also sent its input to the government about apprehension of violence and rigging and booth capturing in next phases of polls. He said EC should take cognizance of such reports and take actions.
He said that credit for peaceful voting in Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other states does not go to the EC but if same happens in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal the EC will be credited. He said polling in most parts of the country has been completed and mobilisation of security forces should be begin immediately.
