Moderate to heavy polling recorded in 7th phase for 89 LS seats & 119 Assembly seats of AP

Moderate to heavy turnout of voters marked the 7th phase of polling covering 89 Lok Sabha constituencies spread over 7 states and two Union Territories today. The highest turnout of 85 percent was recorded in Dadra and Nagar Haveli constituency with whereas Srinagar seat in Jammu and Kashmir's registered 25.62 percent polling.

Polling was by and large peaceful in all areas. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi this evening Election Commission officials said, 62 percent voting was recorded for all the 26 seats in Gujarat and 70 percent for 119 Assembly Constituencies and 17 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.

Over 57 percent turnout reported in 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 73 percent for all 13 constituencies in Punjab, 81. 35 percent for 9 constituencies in West Bengal. Bihar with 7 seats registered around 60 percent turnout and Daman and Diu witnessed 76 percent polling.

Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh recorded 51.85 percent voting where Congress President Sonia Gandhi is trying her electoral luck. Vadodra witnessed 70 percent polling from where BJP leader Narendra Modi, Congress's Madhusudan Mistry and Aam Aadmi Party's Sunil Digambar Kulkarini are contesting.

Lucknow, where BJP President Rajnath Singh and Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi are prominent candidates, recorded 55.22 percent voting. 62 percent polling was reported from Gandhinagar Lok Sabh seat where BJP leader L K Advani is contesting.
