Moderate to brisk polling has been reported from six Lok Sabha constituencies spread across Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Manipur till 4.00 P.M.
As per preliminary reports 70 per cent polling took place for two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh till 5 p.m. State CEO Chander Bhushan Kumar told AIR, Itanagar correspondent that polling was on at some places even after 5 p.m following long ques of voters.
In Manipur, over 70 per cent polling was reported for the lone seat till 4 p.m.
In Nagaland also over 70 per cent voters were reported to have exercised franchise till 3 p.m. while in Meghalaya, overall 66 per cent of voters exercised franchise in two Lok Sabha constituencies in the state which went to the polls today.
State Election Department told AIR correspondent in Shillong that Tura Parliamentary constituency had 70 per cent polling while in Shillong the polling percentage was 62 per cent. Former Lok Sabha speaker and NPP Candidate P.A. Sangma is fighting from Tura seat.
Polling was also held for the 49 Assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh.
