Moderate quake claims one life in China, leaves 11 injured

In China, one person was killed and eleven others injured when a moderate 5.2 magnitude earth quake hit the south western Sichuan province this morning. Officials said the quake has brought down at least 100 homes in the Moxi area of Suining, a city of 3.5 million people. According to US earthquake monitors' report, the tremor struck early this morning, 35 kilometres south-east of Suining, at a depth of 18.6 kilometres. Chinese state media said the authorities in Sichuan were still not sure if the latest quake was an aftershock from the earlier disaster. An earthquake of 8 magnitude on Richter scale hit Sichuan on the 12 May 2008 leaving at least 87,000 people dead or missing.
