In Assam, voting is on for 28 seats of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council .Voting will conclude at 3 pm. Dima Hasao S P Mughdya Jyoti Mahanta said that around 40 percent voting has been reported till the last report came in.
He also said that voting is underway peacefully and no untoward incident has been reported.200 polling booths have been set up. More than 1 lakh 21 thousand voters are eligible to seal the political fate of the 138 candidates. Congress has fielded 28 candidates. BJP has its candidates in 10 consituencies.19 former insurgent leaders are also contesting in the poll. Security has been intensified across the Dima Hasao district to conduct free and fair polls.13 additional companies of para-military force and Assam Police battalions have been deployed.96 polling stations have been identified as very sensitive and 66 stations as sensitive. Counting will be held on 24th of this month.
