A moderate intensity earthquake shook Kashmir Valley early today but there were no reports of any damage. According to the Natural Disaster Management Cell, an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 6.53 am on Tuesday morning. The epicenter of the earthquake was close to the Line of Control in Kashmir, 215 km East-Southeast of Srinagar. So far, there are no reports of damage caused by the tremor. There has been an increase in seismic activity in Kashmir, which falls in earthquake-prone Seismic Zone V, in the past one week. The Valley has experienced the third tremor since the 18th of this month.
