A moderate earthquake, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, hit southwest China today. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the epicenter of the quake struck at 4:47 a.m local time was 33.3 degrees north latitude and 96.2 degrees east longitude, about 80.6 km southwest of the county seat Gyegu Town. The Qinghai earthquake administration today said a total of 2,499 moderate and minor earthquakes have jolted the Tibetan county of Yushu in northwest China's Qinghai Province, since it was devastated by a 7.1-magnitude quake on April 14. An official of the administrtion said the quakes were all aftershocks and no casualties have been reported. At least 2,698 people were killed with 270 still missing in the April 14 quake.<br/>
