Moderate EQ hits Ecuador's western Pacific coast

A moderate 5.1-magnitude earthquake rattled Ecuador's western Pacific coast yesterday, causing panic among residents in the port city of Manta. Ecuador's geographic research institute said the quake struck west of the capital city Quito. The temblor was also felt in Ecuador's largest city of Guayaquil and other southwestern areas. There have been no reports of casualties. Ecuador is a quake-prone country as it sits on the Pacific rim seismic zone. <br/>
