A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale jolted Pakistan near its border with Afghanistan this morning. The US Geological Survey said the quake struck at 4:17 am (local time) with its epicentre 82 kilometres west-south-west of Dera Ismail Khan, at a depth of 10 kilometres. Pakistan was hit by a 7.6-magnitude earthquake on October 8 in 2005 that killed more than 73,000 people and left about 3.5 million homeless.
