The Maharashtra government has suspended Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sunil Paraskar, who has been accused of rape and molestation by a Mumbai model. An official said, Chief Minister Prithivraj Chavan has approved a proposal by the Home Department in this regard. A Mumbai court had recently granted Paraskar pre-arrest bail, observing the complainant's behavior and her email exchange with him suggested consent. Paraskar filed pre-arrest bail application on July 25, a week after an FIR was registered against him by suburban Malwani police. The complainant, a 25-year-old model, alleged that Paraskar had molested and sexually assaulted her on two occasions in December 2013.
