The Election Commission has issued a notice to the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for alleged violation of the model code of conduct by his speech at a rally in Chhatisgarh. Mr. Modi had termed the Congress election symbol as Khooni Panja and Zalim Haath at a rally in Dongargarh. In its communication to Mr. Modi, the Commission prima facie observed that his remarks have violated the model code of conduct. The Poll body has asked him to explain by the 16th of this month why action should not be initiated against him.
The Election Commission also expressed displeasure over certain public utterances of Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi during a poll campaign. The Commission asked him to be careful during election campaigns in future.
