Model Code of Conduct conditions relaxed in three states

The Election Commission today decided to relax the conditions for model code of conduct in the States of Manipur, Punjab and Uttarakhand where the polling has been completed.

In a statement issued in New Delhi, the Commission said that the ministers in these states have now been allowed to tour districts and take officials, besides reviewing and implementing ongoing programmes.

The Commission has also allowed calling of review meeting of officers at headquarters and in the field, except the officers who are on election duty.

The poll body has also henceforth allowed states for calling, evaluation and finalisation of bids and award of contracts thereof.
