The World Earth Day is mainly observed in appreciation of earth's environment and to spread the message of environmental conservation. This year, the theme of the day is mobilizing the earth and recognizing the urgent need of awareness among the people. This is the largest civic observance across the globe where more than one billion people participate to show their interest towards conservation of this precious planet.

A series of functions were organised on Sunday in various parts of the country as well as the national capital, to highlight the need of protection and conservation of environment. Various government and non-government organisations also held several programmes in New Delhi to raise awareness among the people about inculcating the habit of conservation of natural resources.
