In Madhya Pradesh, mobile banking services have been introduced in eight districts to disburse wages to labourers in their villages itself under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) on experimental basis. AIR Bhopal correspondent report that after the success of this experiment, the state government plans to expand mobile banking services to remaining 42 districts of the state.
