MNS Chief Raj Thackeray not to disrupt screening of MNIK; Multiplex start advance booking

In a new twist to the ongoing political tussle over 'My Name Is Khan', Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said that his party would not disrupt the screening of the film starring Shahrukh Khan. He was addressing a press conference in Mumbai today.<br/><br/>Although Shahrukh Khan has refused to apologize for his remarks on inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL he is willing to close the issue with the Shiv Sena.<br/><br/>Meanwhile Maharashtra government has beefed up security and is all set to ensure a smooth screening of Shahrukh’s film ‘My Name is Khan’ releasing tomorrow.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent Alpana Pant Sharma reports from Mumbai that an uneasy calm prevails in Mumbai on the eve of the release of the film 'My Name is Khan'. The city has its fingers crossed. The state government has warned the Shiv Sena not to indulge in vandalism and actor Shahrukh Khan hopes better sense prevails.<br/><br/>More than a thousand Shiv Sena workers have been detained and security beefed up at many of Mumbai's movie theatres after the Shiv Sena threatened to stall the release. The cast and crew of 'My Name is Khan' is attending its premier in Abu Dhabi and will later head to Europe for a screening at the Berlin Film Festival.<br/><br/>Meanwhile Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan says that the common man should not suffer and the controversy should be sorted out with mutual understanding. Raj Thackeray of the MNS has said that his party will not obstruct the screening of Shahrukh's film. He has criticized Shiv Sena for protesting on the streets.
