MLA Hostage: Govt to welcome any respectable mediator between it & Maoists

The Odisha Goverment today said it will welcome any respectable person to mediate between it and the Maoists to free abducted Biju Janata Dal MLA Jhina Hikaka.Odisha Home Secretary, Upendra Nath Behra, told media persons at Bhubaneswar that the state government is concerned for the tribal legislator and it will provide every support to any such mediator. Behera said the process of withdrawal of prosecution against 13 of the 29 prisoners as demanded by the Maoists has been intitiated.Meanwhile, the Odisha Goverment today again appealed the Maoists to release the MLA in good health and unhurt. The Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist) had kdinapped the MLA Laxmipur in Koraput district of Odisha on 24th oflast month. Rejecting the offers of the Odisha Government, it has decided to take a final decision on the MLA's fate in a 'People's Court' to be held on 25th of this month.
