Mizoram: Special screening of 100th episode of PM's Mann Ki Baat programme organised at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl

<span style="color: #222222;">In Mizoram, a special screening of the 100th episode of PM's Mann Ki Baat programme was organised at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl today. The Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati was the chief guest on this occasion.</span> <br />''<br />''On the occasion, the Governor said that through the Mann Ki Baat Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a Jan Jagaran and instilled in Janbhagidari in the development process through his remarks on positive efforts and works of people countrywide, which has also been inspiring crores of people.<br />''<br />''As a part of the program, a special exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav showcasing the positive stories of people was also put up at the Raj Bhavan by the Central Bureau of Communication. <br />''<br />''During the event, followed by the screening of the 100th episode of Mann KI Baat, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati facilitated former MP Mr C L Ruala for his positive work towards boosting up sugarcane cultivators and Jaggery festival in Serchhip in Mizoram and developing a model village under Saamsad Adarsh Gram in 2015. The story of his positive initiatives was mentioned by PM Modi in Mann Ki Baat on 25th October 2015.<br />'' <br />''The Governor has also facilitated Mr Rochamliana and Mr Vanlalvenpuia, leaders of the Chite Lui Coordination Committee who were mentioned by PM Modi in Mann Ki Bbaat in June last year for their efforts for the conservation of the dying Chite Lui River in Aizawl saving it from wastes and plastics.<br />''<br />''In the Mann Ki Baat episode dated 26th June 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appreciated the efforts of this voluntary organisation in Mizoram, which has been working for saving and rejuvenating a dying river, named Chite Lui.<br />''<br />''In that episode, PM Modi made remarks about their successful efforts related to 'waste to wealth'. He mentioned that this river and its banks were full of plastic and polythene waste. The organisation working to save the river, decided to build a road using the polythene that came out of the river. In 2020, the Save Chite Lui committee constructed the first-ever plastic road for which plastic materials were used by recycling plastic wastes collected from the Chite River.<br />'' <br />''Chite River is situated in the eastern part of Aizawl at an altitude of 800-1000 metres. It is bound by patches of forested mountains on both sides. It provides a habitat for wildlife. It nurtures a valley of colourful wild flowers and flora and fauna.<br />''<br />''Then in 2017, the "Save Chite Lui" movement was built up under the umbrella of the Save Chite Lui Coordination Committee. Talking to AIR News, Mr Rochamliana and Mr Vanlalvenpuia said the movement was begun with help taken from the Aizawl district administration and the Aizawl Municipal Corporation.<br />''<br />''Talking to AIR News, they said the mention of Save Chite Lui initiatives has re-energised the volunteers and beamed a ray of hope to garner more people's support towards rejuvenating the Chite river.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Since then, apart from organising awareness programmes among the stakeholders and citizens, the group started taking consultancy from UNESCO and McArthur Foundation for taking initiatives to save the river. A series of awareness campaigns are being organised periodically with residents and enterprises of the city. They have taken planned actions with the help of government departments and works for the creation of check dams and retaining walls are going on.</span><br />
