Mizoram proposes no tax in budget for 2010-11

Mizoram Budget For 2010-2011 was presented to the house today by the chief Minister Mr Lalthanhawla who is also the finance minister. The budget envisages no fresh taxation. However, proposal for improvement of tax administration and reduction of subsidies in rice for APL families was incorporated. <br/><br/>The chief minister Mr Lalthanhawla said , he is compelled to present the budget by maintaining the same size of last years annual plan of Rs 1250 crore as they could not be finalised before preparation of the budget, which will be finalised in the discussion with the planning Commission of India, scheduled later this month. It was presented with the view to seek supplementary grants for incorporating the increase in the plan. <br/><br/>The Budget was a deficit budget,which will create fiscal deficit of Rupees 2 crore 62 lakhs 68 thousand. The Chief Minister also presented a Supplementary Demand for Grants of Rs 642 crore 80 lakhs 88 thousand owing to the present financial year.<br/>
