The Mizoram government is starting second phase of Bru repatriation from six camps in Tripura amidst protests from Thursday. About sixty Bru families are to be repatriated in this phase.The Mizo Displaced People’s Forum is protesting the repatriation process.The Forum wants a four-corner talk prior to second phase repatriation. They are demanding four-corner talk between their representatives, Mizoram government, Tripura government and the Centre.Earlier, 53 families were repatriated from Tripura in the first phase and they have been kept in Mamit district of Mizoram. The families to be repatriated in the second phase will also be kept in Mamit district.Meanwhile, the security has been beefed up to ensure peaceful and uninterrupted second phase of repatriation. This phase of repatriation was scheduled to start from Monday but was postponed to today due to protests and road blockade.The task of identifying the bonafide Mizo families to be repatriated is also being taken up simultaneously.
