Redemption, rejoicing, feasting and singing marked the birth of Jesus Christ in the North-East which has sizeable Christians.AIR correspondent reports, the birthday of Jesus Christ, the festival of Christmas, is being celebrated in Mizoram with full enthusiasm. Since Sunday morning, people are seen going to the churches to offer special prayers. People are greeting each other and exchanging gifts. Churches have been decorated with lights and flowers and songs of Christmas carols echoed the streets of the state capital Aizawl. Police foot patrol and mobile units are keeping a tight vigil to avoid any untoward incident. Monday will be the day for community feasts in every locality of Aizawl. Feasts are a customary way of celebrating festivals by the Mizos where all people without any discrimination would have an early dinner in an open air.
