Congress has taken an early lead in the Mizoram assembly polls. It is leading in twelve constituencies of the 40 member house. The opposition Mizoram Democratic Alliance is leading in two and Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) in one. The congress candidate and Home Minister R. Lalzirliana is leading over the only female candidate of the opposition MDA in Tawi reserved constituency. The party candidate R.L. Pianmawia is leading in Tuivawl reserved constituency over MDA candidate Gogo Lalremtluanga. Counting is on in the assembly election since this morning. First, the postal ballots were counted and later counting has been taken up from the electronic voting machines.
