Mizoram assembly results: Congress leading

The first three results in the Mizoram assembly elections have gone in favour of Congress. Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla of congress defeated his nearest Mizoram Democratic Alliance's candidate and three terms former MLA C. Lalramzuava by a margin of 734 votes in Serchhip reserved constituency. Congress leader and Minister for Food and Civil Supplies H. Rohluna defeated his nearest opposition Mizoram Democratic Alliance's candidate L. Thangmawia by a narrow margin of over 100 votes in Lengteng reserved constituency. The party candidate candidate John Siamkunga defeated his nearest Zoram Nationalist Party's candidate J. Lalchhuana by a margin of over 1600 votes in South Tuipui reserved constituency. The congress is leading in 12 other constituencies of the 40 member house. The opposition Mizoram Democratic Alliance is leading in four. The congress candidate and Home Minister R. Lalzirliana is leading over the only female candidate Lalmalsawmi of the opposition MDA in Tawi reserved constituency. The party candidate R.L. Pianmawia is leading in Tuivawl reserved constituency over MDA candidate Gogo Lalremtluanga.
