Miyawaki method of afforestation to grow urban forests introduced in J&K UT

<span style="color: #222222;">In the Union Territory of J&K, under the patronage of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice, J&K High Court and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority in co-ordination with Forest Department introduced Miyawaki method of afforestation to grow urban forests and expand the green cover.<br />''<br />''Miywawaki Method is a unique technique pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki that helps build dense native forest.<br />''<br />''The approach is supposed to ensure that plants growth is 10 times faster and the resulting plantation is 30 times dense than usual.<br />''<br />''AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that for ensuring the protection of existing natural environment and to repair & replenish the damage already caused to the ecology, JKSLSA has focused on increasing the green cover by undertaking various initiatives.<br />''<br />''In this context, the first of its kind campaign started with plantation of a mini forest in Udhampur in a strip of 5 Kanals of land at village Nainsu near Devak, adjacent to Industrial Area.<br />''<br />''Around 500 samplings of various varieties were planted involving not only staff of District Legal Serrvice Authority and Forest Department, Udhampur but also the local population who undertook to protect & preserve the enclosure of forest.</span><br />
