The Missile Complex of the Defence Research Laboratories in Hyderabad is going to be renamed after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his 84th Birth Anniversary today. Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar will be formally announcing this at a special programme being held later this afternoon. The Missile Complex at Hyderabad includes DRDL, Advance Systems Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat (RCI).<br/><br/>Dr Kalam joined the Defence Research and Development Laboratory in 1982 and had been associated with it for nearly two decades. He conceived and founded the RCI and developed it into a critical generator of the key technologies like Navigation and Avionics and other Real-time Software Simulators and Embedded Computers. <br/><br/>Mr Parikkar will also formally inaugurate two more facilities -Out Door RCS Test Centre at Dundigal and Kautily Advanced Research Centre at the RCI during his visit to Hyderabad. A Statute of Dr Kalam will also be unveiled on his birth anniversary today. Meanwhile, people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have paid rich tributes to the former President.
