Mismatch between skills of graduates and talents required needs to be corrected: Prez Patil

The President today said that the mismatch between the skills that the graduates in the country possess and the talents required needs to be corrected. She said that this mismatch is leading to low employability ratio of higher education graduates. In her speech at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Sri Venkateswara College in New Delhi today, Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said that there is a massive requirement for the skilled workforce in the country in the areas including IT, Infrastructure, Tourism, Media and Healthcare. She said that there should be broad based system of education that caters to these subjects. She also stressed the need for upgradation of training methodologies and curriculum by the managements of the country's educational institutions. Emphasizing the importance of development of the vocational and entrepreneurial skills for creating self employment opportunities, the President said the interaction between industry, business and academic institutions will be useful in framing the syllabi that is relevant and contemporary.
