Minority Affairs Minister K Rahman Khan informed the Lok Sabha today that several states in the country are yet to set up Minority Commissions. These are Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura and the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep. Jammu and Kashmir also has not yet set up the minority Commission since the Relevant Act does not extend to the State. The Centre has requested the Jammu and Kashmir government to consider extension of the Central Act to the state so as to set up the Commission.
