Minority Affairs Min approves plans for WB districts in 12th five year plan

The Minority Affairs Ministry has finalised plans for 12 minority-concentrated districts of West Bengal for the 12th Five Year Plan and also approved half of the total allocations for them amounting to over Rs 343 crore.An official release said that the West Bengal government had submitted additional District plan proposals for the Plan period from Malda, Birbhum, Burdwan, Murshidabad, Nadia, Howrah, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, North 24 Pargana, South 24 Pargana, Cooch Behar and Kolkata.The Empowered Committee (EC) for Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) in the Ministry of Minority Affairs approved the plans of these districts in its 58th meeting recently held under the chairmanship of Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.The EC approved the projects and also the release of first instalment of 50 percent of central share with usual terms and conditions. The total central share of these 12 MCDs in West Bengal is pegged at Rs 686.1 crore.The meeting also approved the revised district plans of the MCDs like Meerut, Bahraich, Bareilly, Pilibhit and Shrawasti in Uttar Pradesh, Gajapati in Odisha and North East Delhi in Delhi state.The representatives of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Ministry of Health and family Welfare attended the meeting.
