Ministry of Health, Railways sign MoU to provide better health care of Rlys passengers

361 diagnostic centres are being set up on the railway land near railway stations to provide better health care facilities to the passengers. An MoU to this effect was signed by the Ministry of Health and Railways in New Delhi. While the land is being provided by the railways, the doctors, para-medical staff and machinery will be contributed by the health ministry. Giving details after signing the MoU, the Railway Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee said that out of these diagnostic centres, there will be 41 multi-speciality hospitals at the identified places across the country. She said that a working group for setting up these centre is in place.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the health minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the initiative will ensure proper use of the railway land and will help in providing better health care facilities to the masses. He said, these centres will have an out patient department and admission facilities of those having serious ailment. In reply to a question on the railway budget, Ms. Banerjee said it will be a people friendly budget and will also help promote the economic activity across the country.
