The Indian High Commissioner in Abuja today said, the Minister of Overseas Affairs, Mr. Vayalar Ravi who's car had an accident in Liberia is out of danger. The minister was scheduled to visit Nigeria Friday, but his visit has been cancelled. The accident happened in Liberian Capital, Monrovia, when a speeding driver rammed into the ministers car yesterday while the minister was on his way to board a flight to Nigeria. The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr. Mahesh Sachdev said the Minister was taken to John F Kennedy Medical Centre for medical treatment and may be evacuated to Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire if the need arises. The High Commissioner said that officials in Monrovia have informed that said the minister's injury is not serious. The Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire with concurrent accreditation to Liberia Shamma Jain was also injured in the accident. Vyalar Ravi is on a nine day tour of African countries of Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia and Nigeria from the 29 th of last month. During his visit to Liberia, Vyalar Ravi held talks with Liberian officials on further strengthening the technical and economic cooperation between the two countries. In Ghana, he met President John Evans Atta Mills and held discussions on bilateral issues.
