In Uttar Pradesh, the State Election Commission has banned the visits of State Government Ministers to the districts where polling for Chairmanship for Zila Panchayats is slated for Sunday. The Commission has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state in this regard. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports the Commission has also directed complete videography of the polling process. Mobile phones would not be allowed at voting place and only newly elected members of Zila Panchayats and candidates will be allowed inside polling venue. According to the Commission’s directive, all district police chiefs, DIGs and IGs for will provide adequate security to the members for free and fair poll. In 22 districts, Chairmen of Zila Panchayats have been declared elected unopposed including 15 women.
