Minister calls for reduction in fossil fuels consumption in road construction

The Minister for Road, Transport and Highways today Dr. C.P. Joshi today called for reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels in the road construction sector to address the impact of growing carbon footprint in the country. Addressing Indian Rods Congress in New Delhi, he said it is extremely important to check and mitigate the green house emissions to preserve this planet. Dr. Joshi urged all stake holders to look for innovations and approaches in planning, design and construction of roads. He said an eight point action plan has already been put in place by the government to address the challenge of global warming. The three day Congress in which experts and practioneers from different parts of world are also participated provides a platform to acquire upto date information on the latest innovative approaches and products which can help produce the carbon footprint. The three dayevent has been organised by Indian Road Congress in collaboration with Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways.
