Mineral Production rises 1.3% during July 2015

The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of July 2015 at 117.7, was 1.3% higher as compared to July 2014. The total value of mineral production in the country during July 2015 was around 17,500 crore rupees. The contribution of coal was the highest at 6,045 crore rupees. Next in the order were petroleum with 5,696 crore, natural gas with 2,070 crore, iron ore with 1,989 crore, limestone with 498 crore and lignite with 424 crore rupees. These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production.
