Ministry of Mines has amended Mineral Conservation and Development Rules to check illegal mining. According to an official release, this will strengthen the monitoring mechanism for end-to-end accounting of minerals produced, traded or exported or finally consumed in the country. Some of the important features of amended Rule include compulsory registration of miners, traders, stockists, consumers and exporters of minerals and compulsory filing of monthly returns and annual returns.
