The Majlis Ethehadul Muslimeen-MIM today withdrew its support to the UPA Government at the centre and Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Government in Andhra Pradesh.
MIM President and Hyderabad Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi announced the withdrawal of support to both the Governments at a press conference in Hyderabad today.
Owaisi said that an emergency meeting of the party Polit Bureau held in Hyderabad this morning decided to pull out of the UPA and a letter to this effect has been faxed to the President of India. He also said a similar letter will also be handed over to Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Owaisi alleged that Kiran Kumar Reddy's government is supporting communal forces, and not acted against the perpetrators of a series of attacks against the MIM leaders and the youth of the Old City of Hyderabad.
The MIM has one Lok Sabha member while it has seven members in the 294-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly. The Party has been supporting the state Government from out-side since 2004.
