The country's milk production has touched 105.42 million tonnes so far in 2016-17. Agriculture Ministry has set the target of 163.74 million tonnes milk production during 2016-17. In a statement, the Ministry said, the total milk output stood at 155.5 million tonnes in 2015-16.<br/><br/>As per the latest data released based on the integrated sample survey, the ministry said milk output during the rainy season of 2016-17 grew to 54.50 million tonnes from 52.21 million tonnes. It said, the average milk yield per day has marginally improved for indigenous category of cows and buffaloes when compared with last rainy season.<br/><br/>Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh were largest milk producers.In case of eggs, the total output is 55.11 billion so far this year, of which 29.09 billion eggs was from rainy season. The year's target is 87.05 billion.<br/><br/>Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana , West Bengal and<br/>Haryana were five largest producers of eggs. With regard to meat, the production has increased to 4.67 million tonnes so far while the target is to achieve 7.37 million tonnes during 2016-17.
