In Assam, Army and Para-military forces have launched a full scale operation in the jungle areas of Sonitpur district to capture the NDFB militants involved in last evening’s massacre of 11 people at Bhimajuli under Biswanath Chariali Police station. The State Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi reviewed the situation arising out of the renewed attack by the anti-talk faction of the outfit at a high-level meeting at his residence at Khanapara in Guwahati last night.He instructed the authorities to immediately rush more Para-military forces to 25 specific spots dominated by the anti-talk faction of the NDFB in Assam-Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan adjacent areas. The Chief Minister has also asked Revenue Minister Dr. Bhumidhar Barman, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Bharat Narah and Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma to rush to the spot of incident to supervise the situation.It may be recalled that six persons died on the spot and five succumbed to their injuries in hospitals when the motorcycle-borne militants armed with sophisticated weapons opened fire indiscriminately at interior Bhimajuli area around 7.30 on Sunday evening. Twelve seriously injured people are undergoing treatment in Biswanath Chariali and Tezpur Civil Hospitals.Two critically injured have been shifted to Guwahati Medical College.AIR Correspondent from Guwahati reports that the militants earlier slapped demand for ransom to the businessmen in the area. Sunday’s attack is understood to have the fall out of the businessmen’s denial to pay the ransom.
