Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said, the recent events of violence and unrest in the Kashmir valley are tragic and posed a grave challenge to the country. Addressing Congress Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi this morning, Mrs Gandhi said, militants must be dealt with firmly as the national security cannot be compromised. <br/><br/>She accused the NDA government of destabilizing institutions of national importance and polarizing the society. Attacking the government over price rise of essential commodities, Mrs Gandhi alleged that the government's claims on inflation have been exposed. She said, government's inaction has affected the farmers at large.<br/><br/>Reacting to the allegations on inflation, Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, the Opposition is only shedding crocodile tears. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr Naidu asked the Opposition what it had done during its tenure to curb inflation. He said, inflation has come down during the NDA regime and will further reduce because of good Monsoon. Mr Naidu said price rise of pulses and cereals is seasonal.
