Militants loot ammunitions in Assam

In Assam, suspected extremists belonging to Hmar Peoples Convention (Democratic) Group have attacked a camp of the 15 India Reserve Battalion located at Chekarcham in Cachar District bordering Manipur and Mizoram and looted a huge quantity of arms and ammunition. According to police, a group of about thirty extremists armed with sophisticated weapons attacked the camp on Thursday late night. Four Jawans of India Reserve Battalion were injured in the attack. The extremists also abducted five persons from the neighbouring Khasia punji village. A massive combing operation by a joint force of Assam police and CRPF is on to nab the extremists and so far 36 people have been picked up.<br/>
